Invitation to parents affected by baby loss (from conception to neonatal loss)
As part of a small personal art project dedicated to a baby who was stillborn, the artist invites you to write a letter to your baby/babies.
This project is working towards an end exhibition entitled ‘A Thaisce Bheag' / 'My Darling Little One’, for detailsclick here. The exhibition is dedicated to a baby who was stillborn over ten years ago. Each piece of the exhibition is part of the stillborn baby’s life story.
As the project evolved, the idea of the letters arrived as an opportunity for others to remember their baby/babies who died.
Your letter will remain unopened and unread by the artist or anyone else. All sealed envelope(s) will be displayed together and with care in the exhibition space and the confidentiality of the letters will be communicated to exhibition visitors.
When working on this project the artist contacted the baby loss support charity ‘Féileacáin’* for advice on wording. Although this project and exhibition is not affiliated with the charity, the team at Féileacáin has generously offered their kind support to plant the unopened envelopes with a cherry tree or rosebush in a protected area along with other notes from parents to their babies. And so, at the end of the exhibition, your letter(s) will be forwarded by registered post to the care of Féileacáin for this purpose.
